What to Wear: Tea Party Style
Where: Tea party
What: Salmon-coloured tea dress with cream scalloped lace detail, Winsome Wanderer bag and nude ballet pumps.
Why: This outfit is colourful and girly (and matchy-matchy, sorry I couldn’t help myself) and perfect for a garden tea party or a tea date with a friend. It’ll brighten up any day just like the perfect cup of tea. What better way is there to spend International Tea Day (happy International Tea Day, by the way!) than to wear a pretty outfit and have a cuppa?
Have you had a celebratory cup of tea today?

Where: garage sale, farmer’s market, bookshop.
What: black tights, loose grey tank top, slouchy light grey sweater, black snood, canvas shopper bag and a pair of mocassins.
Why: Spending a relaxing morning browsing through a little book shop and grabbing a coffee is one of my favourite things to do. When I’m spending my time this way I want to feel comfortable but I also don’t want to look messy – that’s why neutral colours, tights and a slouchy jersey are the answer. The outfit is still comfy but the simple colour combinations keep it from looking like I just fell out of bed. Perfect.

How To Be A Stylish Secondhand Shopper
I was lucky to grow up trolling secondhand stores with my bargain loving mum but many of you are secondhand shopping rookies with nobody to show you the ropes – that’s why I’m here to give you my tips to becoming a savvy secondhand shopper.
1. Know where to go - The majority of people I talk to about secondhand shopping have no clue where any good secondhand shops are located. There’s no point in going secondhand shopping if you have no place to go. Talk to someone who knows the scene well and make sure that before you set off you know the name and locations of the secondhand shops you plan on seeing. You can also checkout the newspaper to find out about garage sales and markets in your area.
2. Friendship Folly -  Pick your secondhand shopping companion wisely. Find a friend that’ll enjoy secondhand shopping too. You don’t want someone who will rush you or get bored easily in the stores.
3. Dress to undress - This sounds ridiculous but it’s true. While secondhand shopping it is important to wear clothes that are easy to take off to try on some bargain beauties. You don’t want to be wearing layer upon layer or things that have lots of bows or buckles because these make trying on clothes more difficult. Simple dresses are the best because they are easy to slip on and off and allow you to try on items underneath them when there are no fitting rooms.
4. Bargain Baby - It helps to know how to bargain when you go secondhand shopping. You can often haggle the price down at these stores and save some money at the end of the day.
5. Be daring - Be open minded when you go secondhand shopping. Don’t disregard items that you wouldn’t usually wear; try them on and you may find something exceptional. Remember that something can always be tailored if you love it but it’s a couple sizes too big.
6. Become a regular - Don’t give up – many people don’t find anything on their first secondhand shopping trip but if you go weekly or monthly you’re bound to find an item you love.

Not all that glitters is gold.
I almost stopped blogging today - like for good. I had my first nasty comment on a blog post and it hurt, quite a lot actually. I cried, had a nap and then decided that one little comment shouldn’t get me down and make me feel this bad about myself. I was wearing  this dress today and when I woke up from my nap I saw that the light was perfect for photos (hello, golden hour) and so I put on my shoes and this pretty gold top that I’ve been meaning to wear for ages and called my dad to take some photos. I love blogging. I love fashion. I love style. One horrible comment isn’t going to stop me doing what I love.
On a side note, the title of this post comes from Shakespeare’s Merchant of Venice play which makes me super happy. I didn’t know the origin of this quote that but I adore Shakespeare’s works - I even got an award in high school for my love of the bard. Ha! It’s funny how things work out like that - a pretty Shakespeare quote supersedes a nasty comment any day.
